13. Anesthesia and Resuscitation
Dr. Fermín Fernández Cano, the anaesthetist from the Hospital of Basurto, donated a large collection of medical objects related to anaesthesia, which enabled us to create a space dedicated to this technique. In 1846, the odontologist William Morton (1819-1868) anaesthetized the first patient at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and, since then, this technique has reached a high level of development. The Museum keeps masks, the inhaler developed by Louis de Ombredanne (1871-1956) in 1908, and many other objects such as resuscitation equipments from the late twentieth century.
