Aitziber Pascual has a Bachelor’s degree (1995) and a PhD (2009) from the Faculty of Psychology of the UPV/EHU, where she has been a lecturer since 2006. Her doctoral thesis focused on the role of certain emotional variables in the development of Eating Disorders (ED). She currently teaches two second-year subjects within the Psychology Degree: ‘Emotion and Social-Emotional Competencies’ and ‘Thought and Language’, as well as lecturing in ‘Research into Basic Psychological Processes’ on the ‘Psychology. Individual, Group, Organisation and Culture’ Master’s Degree. She has also served as Academic Secretary (2013-2015) and Deputy Dean for Students, the Basque Language and Quality (2015-2017) in that same faculty.

She is a member of the Consolidated Research Group ‘Culture, Cognition and Emotion’ and has participated as a researcher in 10 research projects. She is currently directing two doctoral theses, one of which is a continuation of her own doctoral thesis on emotions and EDs, while the other is on self-transcendent emotions in collective rituals.

She is co-author of 29 scientific articles, 3 books, 18 book chapters and around 90 contributions in national and international conferences, and has had two six-year research periods recognised by the CNEAI. Her research focuses on the role played by emotional variables in EDs, self-conscious emotions (guilt, shame and pride) and self-transcendent emotions.
