First publication date: 24/07/2024
The second edition of BIP course Marine Environmental Threats (BIP-MET) coordinated by the University of Pavia and with the partnership of the University of Azores and the UPV/EHU closed with great success. The BIP-MET combines one module of online lessons (2 ECTS) taught by UAç and UPV/EHU and a 1 week physical mobility to UPavia (4 ECTS). Thirty-two students (12 bachelor and master students from the ZTF-FCT) and more than ten academic staff from the three partners participated in the course. In the context of the UNESCO Ocean´s Decade 2020-2030, students get formation on several aspects related to the causes and consequences of the threats that are jeopardizing the future of our oceans, with focus on marine pollution, bioinvasions and overfishing. In addition, students develop transversal skills related to internationalization, new educational methodologies, science dissemination and digital skills, which are recognized in the final diploma with the novel digital certificate (badge) for the acquired competences and skills. The course activity ended this year with the farewell performance Can you see? an event prepared in collaboration with a local theater company. The Italian Erasmus National Office recently recognized the BIP-MET for its good educational practices. The third edition of the BIP-MET has been approved and the call to recruit the new intake will be announced in September.
